Five bands I will be in, once I have willed them into tangible existence:
1. Willrow Hood
2. The Pissed Officers
3. Hombre Hambre
4. The Hi-Five
5. Mechanical Bull Night

You see the allure of Mechanical Bull Night? Everyone would show up at the bar. I figure most of them would be pissed at the guy with the acoustic guitar, so I'd probably have to start writing really great, funny-but-not-stupid-funny, songs about the kind of things people who ride mechanical bulls want to hear. It's tough.

Either way, I'm just excited about music these days! That's how my mom would say it, anyway. Except she might use more exclaimation points. I've bought some good records, I got my 4-track fixed, I'm writing and practicing a lot because the definite possibility of full-on, paying music jobs is on the not-so-distant horizon for me. I need to get together some more money for little commodoties (mixer, mic stand...and I think I'm going to cave in and actually sacrifice the twenty dollars to buy a real tuner). So, in the meantime I'm broker than a joke. But I am going to risk overdraft charges to buy the new Bob Dylan joint that hits the streets tomorrow. And I'm going to get my mom the new Norah Jones for her birthday. But don't tell her. And don't tell her about the blog either.

More reasons to be excited about music:
New records by Iron and Wine, Modest Mouse, Sufjan Stevens, Devendra Banhart, Pedro The Lion, Jolie Holland, Bob Dylan and more coming out in a monthlong span of ridiculous goodness. I can't even afford most of it. But I want to tell you all right now that you're a sucker if you like folky music and you don't at least pick up the Devendra Banhart and Iron and Wine records. Realistically, most of you are already suckers. I've seen your record collections. (oooh..dang!)
